SIBU: Some 1,000 Muslim teachers here met and listened to former prime minister Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad yesterday in an event organised by the Association of Sibu Bumiputera Graduates (PBGS).
The event was called ‘An Evening With A Great Nationalist’ and was held at RH Hotel at 3pm.
Also at the function were Nangka assemblyman Dr Annuar Rapaee, Temenggong Datuk Wan Hamid Edruce, Assistant Minister of Land Development Datuk Abdul Wahab and the function’s organising chairperson Malsiah Jamal.
The fourth and longest serving premier left for Kuala Lumpur at 11pm after dinner with people from the various communities here.
Meanwhile, Dr Mahathir stepped on the tarmac of Sibu Airport according to schedule yesterday to a rousing welcome.
Local Government and Community Development Senior Minister Dato Sri Wong Soon Koh led well-wishers to greet him when he emerged from his flight at 11.20am.
Others included Assistant Minister of Land Development Datuk Abdul Wahab Aziz, Tamin assemblyman Joseph Mauh Ikeh and Nangka assemblyman Dr Annuar Rapaee.
