NIAH: The “I Want U” educational programme of SMK Suai to encourage students to continue their education to university level, has been given a financial boost of RM10,000 each by local elected representatives.
The two representatives were the programme’s patron, Sibuti Member of Parliament Ahmad Lai Bujang and the Bekenu assemblywoman Rosey Yunus who is also the Assistant Minister of Early Childhood Education and Family Development.
“I WANT U” programme is not just an educational visit to university but a motivational programme to create greater awareness among students of this school to pursue their ambition to university level.”
“Thus SMK Suai must effectively implement the programme and other academic programmes so that your school could be of world class standard,” said Ahmad Lai during the preparatory meeting of the programme at the school on Thursday.
It was attended by some 100 people including the advisor of the programme Niah District officer Ali Mudin, school principal Abu Sahran Sahari, the director and deputy director of the programme Mohammad Fikri Ali and Harris Fadhillah Sadarudin respectively as well as parents of the participating students.
The “I Want U” programme will be held from March 15 to 19 at Universiti Utara Malaysia (UUM) Kedah Sintok.
A total of 33 students accompanied by six teachers will take part in the programme.
