Moral Education Should Be Taught to Muslim Students - MARA chairman

  NR       Monday, July 30, 2012
BESUT: Moral education, which is currently a subject for non-Muslim students in school, should be taught also to Muslim students to restore and strengthen moral values among youths in the country, MARA chairman Datuk Seri Idris Jusoh said today.

He believed that moral education could help mould students' behaviour and attitude, hence making them into better beings.

Citing Turkey, he said, although a Muslim country, Islamic education was not a subject in school, but students were taught moral education towards building a race with high moral values.

"We can expand moral education to all students by making some changes in the contents," he said at the excellent service presentation award of the Besut District Education Office here today.

He said that in building a great nation and society, the question on morality should be emphasised.
With the various social problems, there is a need to teach moral education to all students, he added.     -- BERNAMA
