KUALA LUMPUR, Oct 14 — Unemployed graduates have a unique opportunity to attend a six-week training programme sponsored by the government and get a chance to get a job.

The Graduate Career Accelerated Programme (GCAP) offers a skills’ upgrading training programme designed to transform graduates into highly employable executives for the service industry.

The training is intense experiential and interactive which is intended to fast develop the hallmarks of an attractive hire and prepare the unemployed graduates to take on the challenges of today’s highly competitive job market.

GCAP is sponsored by TalentCorp of The Prime Minister’s Office and the programme is managed by MyPartnersSdnBhd and designed and delivered by Scicom Education Group to create a formal educational pathway and prepare qualified human capital for the services management industry.

Scicom Education group chief operating officer Jude Mohan told Bernama that GCAP is conducted in English, with special emphasis to improve, especially, the oral communicative skills of the trainees.

“The modules are focused to equip the graduates with the fundamental skills and techniques of communicating in a business and service environment.

“The oral and written English language sessions are aimed at bringing the trainees to a new level of confidence for a brighter future.

“The training involves communicating effectively, speaking English confidently, make presentations like a professional, handle job opportunities, master professional workplace skills and acquire right emotional intelligence for career acceleration,” he said.

Mohan said after the successful completion of the programme, the graduates will be awarded certificates and would be referred to a host of companies ranging from telecommunications, media, tourism, finance or retail, giving them an opportunity for employment.

The Scicom Education Group has already trained over 4,000 people and has a successful job placement rate of 97 per cent.

To qualify for the programme the would-be trainees have to be Malaysian citizens, have a degree from a recognised university and currently unemployed.

The training will be held all over the country and at some training venues, accommodation may be provided and the trainees will also receive a daily allowance.

“This is a Government sponsored programme to improve the employability of our unemployed graduates. GCAP is aimed at developing competent human capital with specialised skills to participate in new opportunities in the service industry, able to pursue careers in a technical and professional environment and eventually progress into management and leadership roles,” said Mohan.

He said unemployed graduates should not miss out on this excellent opportunity for a brighter future.
