Teach For Malaysia
Teach For Malaysia is an independent, not-for-profit organisation seeking to put an end to educational inequity in Malaysia.
We are seeking a Training Director whose responsibilities include working within networks and communities to build systems and relationships that will enable Teach For Malaysia to recruit, train, and prepare a capable staff of future leaders who will commit two years to teach underserved students in Malaysia.
(Kuala Lumpur - Kuala Lumpur)
Responsibilities:
- Build overall training framework for Teach For Malaysia participants
- Oversee the local adaptation of the "Teaching As Leadership" framework through researching prevalent educational issues in Malaysia's disadvantaged classrooms
- Researching and consulting opinion leaders on other issues at school-level
- Incorporating these elements into a cohesive training framework for Teach For Malaysia participants
- Coordinating with Teach For Malaysia's training partners from the Government and corporate sectors to ensure alignment and quality of training modules
- Coordinate the placement of participants (includes mapping capability of participants with needs of schools)
- Support engagement with school-level leaders, where necessary
- Lead development of overall evaluation of programme/ participants
- Lead development of comprehensive model to measure impact on student outcomes
- Manage placement relationships with districts and schools (if no ED present)
Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree required, masters preferred
- 1 or more years of management experience preferred
- Knowledge of pedagogy would be an advantage
- Proven ability to work relentlessly toward goals
- Ability to invest others in ambitious goals
- Ability to work well with others and motivate peers
- Willingness to take on significant responsibility and accountability
- Strong critical thinking and problem-solving skills
- Strong writing skills and presentation skills
- 1 Full-Time position available for immediate hire
- Position based in Kuala Lumpur, and may require domestic and international travel

Teach For Malaysia participants would serve for a minimum of 2 years in challenging schools and commit to transform the educational outcomes of less-privileged schoolchildren through significantly improving their achievements and aspirations.
In time, our alumni would form an influential network of leaders, committed in their pursuit of expanding educational opportunities from within and outside of the education sector.
Currently in the early stages of development, Teach For Malaysia aims to place its first cohort of 50 participants in challenging classrooms at the start of the school term in January 2012.
