A total of 253 Bachelor of Education graduates from UNIRAZAK Sabah and Sarawak Regional Centres were interested and keen to be teachers in government schools in Sabah and Sarawak. This figure was conveyed to Prof Dr. Morni Hj Kambrie, CEO, SIDMA College after the one month survey conducted by the Alumni secretariat. The survey cum data bank construction by the Secretariat began on 1st August and ended on 26th August 2011. During the exercise, the secretariat had managed to gather information from 253 graduates of UNIRAZAK from both Sabah and Sarawak Regional Centre who showed their interest to be teachers in government schools. The detail is as follows:

Commenting on the smaller number of graduates for 2008 and 2009, Prof. Dr. Morni thanked the Ministry of Education for its effort in taking most of the UNIRAZAK graduates as teachers in government schools. He hoped that more of these graduates will be taken in to be teachers in the future to overcome the continuous acute shortage of local teachers in Sabah and Sarawak.
Prof Dr. Morni also advised all these graduates not to depend solely on the government to appoint them as teachers. They can also be teachers in private institutions and also other government institutions such as MRSM and Politeknik. He said, many of our graduates are doing very well in such institutions. Some are even offered better pay as these graduates showed their competencies in the subject they majored while in college.
Apart from being a teacher, the graduates can also be an entrepreneur. They should be more proactive and not to waste their knowledge and skills which are learned from the college by doing nothing. For a start, these graduates can start by assisting the needy students in their localities in whatever way they can. For instance, they can start small through coaching classes (with minimum charges) on subjects or skills that these graduates are proficient in. By helping these needy students to raise their grades in schools, indirectly, this will raise the popularity of these graduates. Some may even consider teaching overseas, in countries such as the Middle East.
Prof Dr. Morni thanked the Alumni committee for doing a great job in contacting the graduates and setting up of the data bank for the College. As a token of appreciation, the management of SIDMA College is sponsoring a special dinner for the Alumni committee on August 26th, 2011 at Kampung Nelayan, Bukit Padang.
