When looking at this woman, it might seem as though she is just like any other Malaysian, but alas, there is actually an amazing story that lies behind her eyes.
Who would have thought Ayesha Asri, a 28-year-old Bidayuh woman from Kampung Pelaman Dunuk Padawan has a career far different from the norm!
Clocking in as a heavy machinery operator, this Sarawakian beauty thrives on pursuing things that can challenge her and today, she has proven that women too are capable of working in a male-dominated field.
“In the year 2009, I studied in the Malaysian Marine Aqueduct and had received a Diploma in Nautical Science.
"After that I worked in shipping as a Cadet Deck until 2015," she said, Sarawakiana reports.
But according to her, she had to stop working afterwards when her son had a health problems that needed her full attention.
"After my son was operated and his health improved, I secretly applied for a heavy machinery license at CIDB.
"I attended a heavy machinery operation for six months and today I have started my career as a Heavy Machinery Operator (Crane) at Senari Port," she said.
Further explaining, Ayesha said it is time for women to be be brave enough to take on challenges and do not expect to get easy jobs.
Today's teens need to find opportunities to build a life and not be too sidetracked by technology, if only for fun, she added.
"Women are capable of doing anything a man can do as long as their spirit never fades and be fully disciplined," she said.
Commenting further on her career, she credits her mother as the great driving force behind her success.
We hope Ayesha’s story would inspire all Malaysian women out there to go beyond your comfort zone and if come a day when a man tells you he is better, remember that anything he can do, you can too.
