SARIKEI: The local Sarawak Teachers’ Union (STU) branch will hold its 8th Annual General Meeting at its new premise located on the first floor of the United Chinese Association Building here on June 18.
Its chairman Claudius Liew Sze Kiong, said that the meeting scheduled to commence at 8 am, among others would witness the election of 2011-2013 Internal Auditors and Scrutineers.
Following the adjournment of the AGM around 11.30 am, an official opening ceremony for the new STU premise would
be held, Liew said, adding that STU president, William Gani Bina was expected to grace the occasion.
The ceremony will end with a luncheon where members’ children who excelled in their public examinations such as UPSR, PMR, SPM and STPM will be presented with educational incentives.
For the benefit of members’ children, they had invited Sunway College to open a service center at their premise from 11.15am to 1pm, he said.
According to him the college (Sunway) is offering scholarships for qualified STU members’ children to pursue courses in the college.
