13,000 Untrained Attachment Teachers To Be Absorbed Into Permanent Posts

  NR       Wednesday, July 27, 2011
PUTRAJAYA, July 26 (Bernama) -- The 13,000 untrained attachment teachers (GSST) nationwide can look forward to a brighter future now that they will be absorbed into permanent posts, Deputy Education Minister Dr. Mohd. Puad Zarkashi.

He said the offer letters had been issued to the teachers concerned since last month after the ministry was given the permission by the Public Service Department to create new posts for them.

"The ministry's target is to get all the eligible GSST to become permanent teachers and there will be no more issue of their contracts not renewed.

"However, they have to meet certain conditions, like having served as GSST for two consecutive years and should not be more than 35 years old on Dec 31, 2010," he told reporters after the presentation of prizes to winners of the national-level RA3 Racing Boat Invention and innovation Contest at Sekolah Menengah Kebangsaan Presint 9 (2) here today.

Dr. Mohd. Puad said the teachers should also be prepared to be posted to any place in the country.

He said the eligible teachers would be sent for courses, either at Teachers Teaching Institute or to attend courses during the school holidays, before they could be absorbed as permanent teachers.
